One must realize, that the treatment of most forms of gum disease is quite successful in our office, yet the patient must be willing to do their part and follow the necessary home care instructions in order to achieve success and to maintain health.

Maintenance therapy is extremely important. The patient is expected to return periodically, depending on their condition for maintenance treatments.

The following is a basic outline of the treatment:

Treatment includes painless, meticulous debridement of root surfaces and irrigations with antiseptic AGENTS to the depths of all pockets. These agents have the ability to destroy harmful oranisms living under the gums.The patient is instructed in the proper home care that is best for their condition, The home care continues to eradicate these devastating germs and prevents relapse. For the first time in dentistry QUALITY of HOMECARE IS MEASUREABLE BY USING A MICROSCOPE. The microscope helps us reach a therapeutic end point by letting us see the change in bacteria from saliva samples. Also, the patient's diet is assessed and modifications are suggested to improve ones immune system.

In addition, to the above, our office uses the Perio Protect system of Perio Trays. This new technology, allows us to fabricate custom fitting Perio Trays for the patient to use periodically at home.
